Last week I was lucky enough to spend a day at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. I’ve been visiting this gem of horticulture and nature since I was 17 years old. Going there inspires me about life and wellness. It always lifts my mood if I need it. Living in Minnesota allows me to witness spring in it’s full glory. Especially after a long challenging winter.
Getting quiet and seeing with eyes and ears was my intention. I found a spot at the edge of the woods and witnessed: two wild turkeys slowly walking through the woods with their heads bobbing…funny! Perfectly plump pine cones swaying in the breeze…tulips fully bloomed reaching up to greet the sun….geese meditating with daffodils..cardinals…wrens and hummingbirds…

Happy Spring. Enjoy the simplicity:)
Yoga Jane

Thanks for the reminder Jane! What amazing pictures. This reminds me of a story of Ashan Chan I’ve been thinking about lately. (I’m also living at a meditation and yoga center in Thailand:Yoga Thailand so that might be why too…)
Basically, it tells about how he used to go deep into the forest to meditate. He would sit by the side of a pool for hours and the more deeply he became still, the more all kinds of creatures would come out. As he recounted, sometimes he saw things that don’t even have names!!
Anyway, your turkeys reminded me of that. Good luck with future stillness and thank you for sharing your journey!
Lisa
Hello Lisa! Thanks for writing. I love Ashan Chans teachings. Your current residence looks compelling. Many great teachers speak about how when we allow ourselves to quiet down, slow down and witness the moments… we energetically draw the more gentle side of life into our lives including the natural world. As the day wore on at the arboretum I was able to hear blades of grass popping up:) Much peace to you.
